The editor in the margins
So you know who’s holding the red pen.
Hi, I’m Liza, the editor behind Revision Room. I know how much courage it takes to trust someone with your words, and I don’t take that lightly. My goal is simple: to help you strengthen your story without losing what makes it yours.
I don’t believe in editing that overrides your voice. I believe in thoughtful, collaborative critique, where you feel supported, challenged in the right ways, and confident in the direction of your work. Empathy is at the core of how I work. My feedback is honest but constructive. When we work together, my goal isn’t just a stronger manuscript, it’s that you walk away feeling more confident in your writing and your voice. My hope is that what you learn from me will make you a better writer overall; I’m not here only to improve the manuscript you hired me for.
I specialize in developmental and line editing for fiction writers, focusing on the elements that make a story truly resonate: structure, character, emotional arcs (gotta have that core wound!), and clarity at the sentence level. Whether you’re refining an outline or polishing a full manuscript, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward with intention.
Before launching Revision Room, I spent over a decade in corporate communications, where I wrote, edited, and managed high-stakes content for large organizations. That experience sharpened my eye for clarity, structure, and audience, but storytelling has always been at the heart of what I do.
I’m also a lifelong reader and writer myself (follow me on Goodreads!), constantly learning, studying the craft, and staying connected to the publishing world. I even lead my own local book club. I truly love this work, and I bring that energy into every project.
If you’re ready to refine your story, I’d love to step into the Revision Room with you.
