The editor in the margins

So you know who’s holding the red pen.

Hi, I’m Liza, the editor behind Revision Room, and I’m so glad you stopped by. I know how much courage it takes to trust someone with your words, and I don’t take that lightly. I’m here to polish (not replace) your voice, so your writing feels like you at your very best.

I hold a BA in English Lit and writing and a master’s-level publishing certification. These programs gave me hands-on experience with senior employees from Big 5 publishing houses and covered everything from in-depth literary reviews and criticism, writing critique workshops, creating marketing plans, reader’s reports, and line/copyediting. I graduated magna cum laude in the top 10% of my class, earned the Advancement of Letters Award for advancement of and excellence in the English and Writing department, and the William Stewart Award for superior scholastic achievement in English. I’m a word nerd through and through.

Since then, I’ve spent 10+ years in corporate communications for some of the largest companies in the U.S., including Fortune 20 businesses, the two largest health insurers in the country, and a Big 4 consulting firm. My work blended my love of language and storytelling with my impeccable attention to detail and collaborative spirit. It spanned everything from communications strategy, editorial plans, intranet management, newsletters, email blasts, leadership announcements, executive communications, town hall prep, video scripting, leader talking points, FAQs, and more. (One campaign I led for a full-scale rebrand boosted engagement by 213%, and yes I geeked out over the data as much as the materials). Leaders trusted me with the send button on communications going out to 100k employees, and one client called me “the best communications partner” they’d ever had.

On a personal level, I’m a lifelong writer and reader. I devour 40+ books a year (follow me on Goodreads!), have written multiple novels, and stay abreast on the latest publishing trends and news. Since 2017, I’ve been a critique partner to a Big 5-published author (who also shares an agent with a former U.S. president—what can I say, my friends are impressive). She’d tell you I’m equal parts thoughtful editor and enthusiastic cheerleader, because celebrating your strengths is just as important as identifying what could be refined. My edits will always include encouragement, because I want you to walk away not just with a stronger product, but with more confidence in your own unique voice.

I’m also a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association.

So, what do you say, are you ready to step into the Revision Room together?
